I have to suspect that McKinney is very happy that other cheerleaders have become the media "darlings" of the moment. I can almost hear the sigh of relief from here....

The girls are to blame, the parents are to blame.

Period.

What, do these kids live in a vacuum? Are you going to tell me that they'd no concept of right and wrong?

It's crap. They needed to be thrown off the team, and expelled.

The parents? That they played advocate for their daughters, instead of parent, is the core of the problem. I'm not keen on holding parents responsible for the actions of their children, but in a situation like this, I'd have no problem with making an exception.

Finally: The administration for this school should be unseated immediately. For them to act with so little spine, caving to the whims of bitchy parents to protect, and therefore underwrite and endorse, the bitchy behavior of their daughters is beyond reproach.

As an aside, however, I'm quite certain that this is not an isolated incident. If you are one of the unlucky folks who takes their vacations during the period when Disney World hosts the cheerleader competition in the parks, then you know that foul-mouthed, rude, obscene and otherwise unacceptable behavior is quite commonplace for cheerleaders.

Sweet Ashley,
Don't be so disturbed. What happened with your "fabulous five" is not so terribly surprising, just about every high school for the entire history of high schools has their own "fabulous five." The movie "Heathers" did so well because it was just a fictionalized version of those special girls that make everyone else's life miserable in high school. No one looks upon the other students with any opinion. We have all lived it. I am sure these particular girls are no different than the ones that used to haunt the halls of my high school. Yes, these 5 particular girls are being called to task about their own actions, and quite possibly for the actions of every schools "fabulous five". I am sorry that it is causing you stress but I have to say that this is healing to all the girls in the rest of the country that are dealing every day with their own "fabulous five" and even if you think all the attention is spotlighted on your school, I can guarantee you this is actually making all the regular high school girls lives a little better all over the country. Whether they know it or not those clicky little "mean girl" groups in high school do damage to everyone around them who is not part of their click and as sad as these particular girls may be now, I can say from experience that there are girls in your school now that will suffer the emotional scars from girls like them for years, this will pass for the cheerleaders as just a bad time, the damage they do to the countless others they step on in their path sometimes doesn't ever heal.

My name is Ashley and I attend Mckinney North High School.

I'm a freshman but am not a cheerleader.

I would just like to say that just because some of our cheerleaders are immature and have given our school a bad reputation, the majority of our school is NOT like this. We are now known nationally for a scandal that only five students were involved in.

Yes they messed up, and it isn't right that they weren't punished properly. But come on! Now is the time to move on. It's over and its time the "fabulous five" stop getting so much special teaching.

Mckinney North has many great things about it. The news is just out to depict the bad things.

I am so glad to see proper attention given to this whole mess.

Your last paragraph hit the nail on the head, where are the discussions of the impact on other kids? If ADULTS where treated this way by this group of girls, how did they treat there peers?

Allow a little projection on my part, but I recall some horrible behavior on the part of such girls when I was a youth, and in my case, these girls were not allowed free reign such in this case. To me, it is the makings of a remake of "Lord of the Flies"...perhaps "Ladies of the Cheer".

I pitty those who managed to get draw these girls negative attention or get in their way. I have nothing but contempt for any adult who may have allowed such an environment to exist for kids who were just trying to get an education without being miserable.
